IPG Autumn Conference 2021

IPG Autumn Conference logo
Following on from the success of our three Virtual Conferences, we are delighted to announce the IPG Autumn Conference will take place on 3 November 2021 in a hybrid capacity. We'll be welcoming members to the Shaw Theatre in London alongside allowing access to the Conference through our hybrid event platform. The schedule will be jam-packed with content—all of it tightly focused on helping you make your publishing even more successful.

All prices are GBP (£) and are subject to VAT.
Please note we operate a no-refund policy on all our events.

Please note there will be a photographer in attendance and photographs taken at the event may be used on IPG's social media channels, website and/or in print. Please contact us if you would prefer not to be photographed.

There’s a packed day in store, full of inspiring speakers, expert advice and the best networking in publishing. You can join us live at the Shaw Theatre in central London for the full interactive experience, or follow the Conference online if you prefer. Some great bulk ticket deals are available so your colleagues can enjoy the Conference too.

Our keynote speakers include:

  • Top performance psychologist and entrepreneur Jamil Qureshi on how to build positive cultures and productivity in the fast-changing workplace. Kate Wilson of IPG Independent Publisher of the Year Nosy Crow will build on Jamil’s messages with a session on ways to help every member of a publishing team perform at their best
  • Emerald Publishing’s Vicky Williams on key business and employer issues including social responsibility, team motivation and promoting diversity, equality and inclusion
  • Profile Books’ Andrew Franklin on the big opportunities and challenges for independent publishers.

Elsewhere at the Conference we’ll have the famous IPG mix of blue-sky thinking, honest stories from across publishing and practical advice from experts, including:

  • A special focus on sustainability in the week of the COP26 summit, with results from new IPG-led research into ways to cut environmental impacts in the supply chain and discussion of targets to achieve meaningful change
  • A panel of retailers on prospects in bookselling in the rest of 2021 and beyond
  • Ingram’s David Taylor with a ‘state of the nations’ guide to international sales as travel opens up, and how local printing and distribution can help
  • Supply chain experts on the very latest issues facing the sector, including paper supply, printing and distribution
  • Expert support for better hiring strategies and job ads that attract a more diverse range of talent into independent publishing
  • A stream of sessions dedicated to big issues in academic and educational publishing, with speakers including renowned historian Peter Mandler on students, social mobility and the role of the humanities, Michael Zeoli on the North American library market and top publishers on the latest Open Access developments
  • Tips for making publishing partnerships work, with insights from Newgen and Lived Places Publishing
  • The latest developments to know about in the dynamic audio market and a close look at Spotify
  • Updates on the latest technology in publishing, including on the role of AI and Ingenta on effective software systems.

All this, plus chances to meet old friends and make new contacts before, during and after the Conference, a delicious lunch and an exhibitor area with publishing’s best suppliers and service providers.

This is the IPG’s first real-world Conference for two years, and we can’t wait to gather with members again—and if you can’t join us in person, content will be available via a live stream. Whichever way you attend, tickets are great value, and you can get even better deals if you book places for colleagues too.
