Programme

10.30am: How To Stay Productive When Things Go Wrong
We kickstart the Spring Conference+ with a masterclass in maintaining output and motivation, even when best-laid plans go awry. Coach and author Grace Marshall shares expert advice for dealing with work-related struggles and helps us reflect on our practices and experiences—and shows how challenging times can bring opportunities and inspire some of our best work

11.30am: Rising To The Accessibility Challenge
The European Accessibility Act is sharpening publishing’s focus on the need to make content available to all users. This practical session features Julie Willis of Westchester Publishing Services UK in conversation with Richard Orme, CEO of the Daisy Consortium, and covers the steps publishers need to take to meet obligations, future-proof resources and increase sales

2pm: Better Sustainability Through Reuse
Hannah Clevett of second-hand book retailer World of Books explains how publishers can make better reuse of unsold books—one of the central planks of the second phase of the IPG’s Book Journeys Project. The session will be chaired Amanda Ridout, CEO of Boldwood Books and chair of the IPG’s Sustainability Action Group, who will also update members on progress on this and other IPG sustainability initiatives

3pm: AI And Author Contracts
The many impacts of Artificial Intelligence in publishing include significant implications for author contracts. Mary Elliott of Fox Williams guides us through the big issues that publishers need to consider and the contract clauses to review

4pm: How To Work With Anyone
The Spring Conference+ finishes with a stimulating workshop on how to manage and collaborate within publishing teams. Amy Gallo, a workplace and leadership expert and author of Getting Along: How to Work with Anyone (Even Difficult People), gives us emotional intelligence tools and tips for building happy and productive working environments for all colleagues
