The Independent Publishers Guild has announced the programme for its first ever International Publishing Forum on 9 and 10 March 2021.
The virtual event is free for all publishers and has been set up to enable connections between publishers, retailers, suppliers and experts around the world. It features more than a dozen expert-led and networking-focused sessions at which guests can share ideas, ask questions and establish new contacts, including:
- Expert overviews of global sales trends from Nielsen BookScan’s Hazel Kenyon; and global rights trends from scout Louise Allen-Jones, Sarah Rigaud at Les Escales in France and Lisanne Mathijssen at HarperCollins Holland
- Opinions from industry leaders including Sourcebooks’ Dominique Raccah
- Q&A on the Brexit-related export and import issues with supply chain experts
- The latest opportunities in audio with top publishers including Ingrid Hölzel of Leonine Studios in Germany, Lasse Korsemann Horne of Saga Egmont in Denmark and Esther Van Dijk of Singel Uitgeverijen in the Netherlands
- Marketing guru Sam Missingham with insights into what authors want from their publishers, including the results of a major new survey
- Sessions tailored to issues in global children’s and academic publishing, with guests including Kate Wilson of Nosy Crow, Christie Henry of Princeton University Press and Ben Ashcroft of De Gruyter
- Practical advice for improving global discoverability, rights management, permissions, career building and much more.
As well as the networking programme, the Forum will facilitate one-to-one meetings.
Delegates will be able to find individuals in similar areas of the publishing industry, and there will be a busy exhibition hall hosting some of the industry’s leading publishers, suppliers and service providers.
The Forum will be staged on a state-of-the art events platform used by the IPG for two very successful Virtual Conferences in 2020, with networking sessions and meetings taking place via Microsoft Teams.
