Contract: Part-time (21 hours per week), permanent contract

Yale University Press London is seeking a part-time Marketing Coordinator to be responsible for academic outreach and administration within the Academic and Communities marketing team. The successful candidate will have excellent time management and organisational skills and have knowledge of academic journals and textbooks.

Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager for Academic and Communities, the postholder will be required to undertake academic outreach for our books and carry out associated administration tasks including:

  • Arranging for our books to be reviewed in relevant academic journals and disseminating positive review quotes
  • Organising direct promotions for our books with relevant academic and specialist societies and associations
  • Promoting our textbooks to lecturers, to enable these to be adopted for use on university courses and modules
  • Representing Yale University Press London at academic conferences and book launches

Core Duties

  • Go through the author marketing questionnaires and note author suggestions for academic journal outreach within our territories
  • Research new journals for appropriate titles and add any new titles to the in-house journals grid
  • Email journals about specific books and offer review copies
  • Maintain good relationships with academic journal review editors
  • Handle ad-hoc academic journal review requests
  • Collate and log academic reviews
  • Select appropriate pull quotes from each review and add to our in-house publishing database
  • Send reviews to the book’s author
  • Go through the author marketing questionnaires and note any author suggestions for courses and modules
  • Research new societies and associations to target for appropriate titles and groups of titles
  • Arrange promotion for relevant books through societies and associations

Key knowledge & skills

It is crucial that candidates can demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience of proof reading and copywriting will be essential for this role. Previous experience in a marketing role within academic publishing would be highly advantageous.
