Who we are: We are an award-winning, independent children’s book publisher. We’re small, but mighty! We are looking for like-minded creatives to join our team. We are passionate about children’s books, telling diverse stories and making our books accessible and inclusive for all.

The Roles:

Junior Book Designer

If you love children's books and you’re bursting with ideas and energy to make our beautiful books accessible for all children, then we can’t wait to meet you!

We are looking for new members to join our growing design team. We’re searching for creative flair, a good working knowledge of indesign, and most importantly a PASSION for children’s books.

You will be developing and designing books for children aged 2+, working on page layouts, cover design and typography as well as helping manage our growing reprint list.

If you are at the start of your career, have a love of children’s books and visual storytelling, this role will give you a great grounding in our wonderful world of children’s publishing. You do not need to have a degree in graphic design to apply and we do consider self taught designers.

Junior Marketing Designer

If you love children's literature and you’ve got great ideas to promote our beautiful books, then we want to meet you! We are looking for a brand new team member to join our team.

We’re searching for creative flair, a good working knowledge of design for print and media, marketing in all forms of social media and most importantly a PASSION for children’s books.

You will be developing and designing marketing materials to appeal to our current customers and attract new ones too. If you are at the start of your career, have a love of children’s books and marketing,

this role will give you a great grounding in our wonderful world of children’s publishing.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Samples of design work to show us their potential
  • A passion for children’s books and getting all children reading
  • An understanding of the design process is desirable - including page layout and typesetting
  • A keen interest in typography
  • An interest in working on licensed projects (branded materials)
  • A passion for design and trends in the children’s book market and or marketing
  • Flexibility, willingness, enthusiasm and confidence
  • A positive work ethic & great sense of humour
  • A desire to put the child at the heart of everything we do.

Key Duties & Responsibilities - Junior Book Designer 

  • Contribute regularly to design meetings with concepts and ideas
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure the team meets timescales and expectations
  • Produce designs that show creativity and an eye for detail
  • Designing and Typesetting books
  • Work alongside members of other departments in the company
  • Brief freelance artists on projects
  • Formatting files ready for print

Key Duties & Responsibilities - Marketing Designer 

  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure the team meets timescales and expectations
  • Produce designs that show creative flair and attract the attention of our customers.
  • Producing eye catching and on trend marketing materials for both print and all forms of social media.
  • Produce stand designs and graphics for Book Fairs and other events.
  • Help with Sales Presentations
  • Design and layout of our annual catalogue
  • Help with Licensing Pitches when needed.
  • Be able to help with typesetting and layout of books where necessary.

Essential Skills:

  • Passion for children’s books
  • A positive can-do attitude and willingness to learn and adapt quickly
  • Good working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, and Illustrator and Photoshop

Working Hours: Our working hours are 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday, 8 hours a day (30 minute or 1-hour lunch break unpaid)

Holiday: 20 days plus bank holidays
