Job description

Liverpool University Press is seeking an Editorial Assistant to support the Press’s Editorial team as it continues to commission award-winning scholarly books.

Primary duties

  • To manage the administrative tasks of the book list for a key publishing partner imprint, providing support to colleagues across departments at LUP regarding all titles published with the partner.
  • To work closely with the Senior Commissioning Editor for Modern Languages and Postcolonial Studies, providing administrative support with the peer review process, handover of manuscripts to production, and data management.
  • To provide support to the Editorial department with a range of tasks, including but not limited to: book covers; contributor contracts; author, editor, and contributor gratis copies; help at peak times with data acquisition forms and data upload on internal systems; commissioning research.

  • Have strong written communication skills, with professionalism and politeness at all times.
  • Take pride in their work with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Show enthusiasm and confidence to contribute to the work of a friendly and ambitious team.
  • Have a humanities degree, preferably in a subject published by LUP.

Salary: £20,000 plus potential bonus

Benefits include 36 days holiday plus Bank Holidays and excellent USS pension scheme.

This role is two days in the office at 4 Cambridge Street, Liverpool (either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) and three days home working.
