Job description

Editorial Internship
Four-month paid placement

Thames & Hudson is the leading global publisher of illustrated books on the visual arts, architecture, design, history and popular culture. We are offering an opportunity for a bright, creative and resourceful graduate to join our editorial department and gain a valuable insight into the processes of illustrated publishing.

You will be given the opportunity to shadow and assist in the editing, picture research, design and proofing stages of the production process. Day-to-day you will provide both administrative and editorial support to commissioning teams across the department, undertaking a range of tasks including reviewing submissions, proofreading layouts, drafting sales copy, checking proofs and ebooks, and researching or assessing illustration material. This is a varied role requiring excellent organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced working environment. You should be enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a small team remotely. You will have a keen eye for detail and a passion for impeccable spelling and grammar.

This is an exciting chance to work on a wide variety of beautiful and innovative books and to gain invaluable experience and understanding of all aspects of the publishing process, from proposal to press. A good working knowledge of Word and Excel is essential. The position is based in central London with the opportunity for flexible working. IT equipment for homeworking will be provided.
