Oneworld is an ambitious, award-winning independent publisher of fiction, narrative non-fiction and children’s books with two Bookers, a Women’s Prize, last year’s inaugural Waterstones Debut Fiction of the Year and Blackwell’s Non-Fiction Book of the Year to our credit, along with numerous trade awards.
Editorial Director, Commercial Fiction
Are you an experienced fiction editor looking for a new publishing challenge? We have an opening for an ambitious, confident and visionary individual with a track record of acquisition success to take on the newly created role of Editorial Director for Oneworld’s commercial publishing division, acquiring a range of fiction from bookclub and historical novels to crime and thrillers.
You should have a proven track record of successful publishing, excellent knowledge of the UK and US commercial fiction markets and experience in author management and negotiation. We’re looking for someone truly passionate about all kinds of commercial fiction, with a strong list of agent and publishing contacts. Reporting to the Publisher, they will be responsible for designing and driving the publishing strategy for our new bookclub list, Magpie Books, as well as overseeing our crime and thriller list, Point Blank, ensuring growth, profitability and quality of publishing.
