Job description

Digital Marketing Executive, Digital Marketing Team

The opportunity

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc is looking for a dynamic, creative and forward-thinking Digital Marketing Executive to work across both the Adult and Children’s division on an exciting list of fiction and non-fiction authors such as Sarah J. Maas, William Dalrymple, Kiley Reid, Madeline Miller, Reni Eddo-Lodge, Katherine Rundell, Neil Gaiman, and many more. Working alongside the marketing teams and reporting directly to the Senior Digital Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for assisting key digital marketing campaigns and help build Bloomsbury’s social media profile.

The ideal candidate will be immersed in the world of social media and highly proficient in creating short form videos for TikTok and Instagram Reels. The candidate will have a desire to experiment with new content forms as social media’s ever-changing features continue to evolve. A love of books and reading is a prerequisite.

The role

SOCIAL MEDIA AND EMAIL NEWSLETTERS

  • Support the Digital Team in managing Bloomsbury’s many social media channels across the Adult and Children’s list by seeding out timely and engaging content (on TikTok, Instagram, Twitter/X, and Facebook), making sure our communications are relevant, up-to-date and within brand guidelines.
  • Help manage Adult and Children’s influencer mailing lists, including identifying potential partners across all platforms to help promote our books. This will include collecting engagement statistics and optimising the process for future campaigns.
  • Create assets (short form video, photography, gifs and threads) for use on book campaigns and social media moments.
  • Work closely with the Digital Team to devise social media strategy and create bespoke campaigns for lead authors and titles, while also helping to shine a light on the breadth of the wider Bloomsbury publishing list.
  • Stay across the latest social media and digital developments, including competitor and wider industry activity, updating colleagues as required.
  • Create reports via SproutSocial and HypeAuditor to optimise our social media content. Use our listening tools to help monitor our social media platforms for spikes in activity, customer queries, and general trends. Support the team by responding to social media direct messages including customers and influencer book requests.
  • Create and schedule engaging email newsletters across our Children’s and Adult list (including ownership of our crime fiction imprint list, Raven Books). Ensuring newsletter content ties in with the wider social and digital output.
  • Increase the number of our social media followers and our newsletter subscriber lists – working towards pre-agreed targets for growth.

ASSISTING THE DIGITAL TEAM

  • Help the digital team in processing invoices for freelancers, influencers and photographers.
  • Organising and ordering books and marketing materials, making sure that the Digital Team and freelancers have the correct resources for their projects.
  • Assistance with organising external social media events, such as Waterstones Piccadilly’s BookFest, YALC, and ComicCon.
  • Attending book launches for key titles, to help gather video and photo content to use on Bloomsbury’s social media (when required).

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Professional experience of using all major social media platforms, especially TikTok
  • Up-to-date knowledge of best practices of social media advertising and industry developments
  • Photography and video creation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including copywriting)
  • Excellent time-management, prioritisation and organisational skills, with a close eye for detail and keen awareness of deadlines
  • Experience of multi-tasking and prioritising a busy work-load with competing demands on your time
  • Ability to adapt to changing daily tasks
  • Proven experience of digital marketing
