We are looking for a Company Accountant to manage general accounting and financial processes of our company. Working with an Accounts Assistant, you’ll be responsible for completing all daily accounting tasks, including preparing company management accounts and tax documents. You will also carry out relevant administrative duties. Ultimately, you will ensure the company’s finances run smoothly.

Primary tasks:

  • Recording day to day financial transactions and completing the posting process
  • Verifying that transactions are recorded in the correct day book, suppliers ledger, customer ledger and general ledger
  • Prepare company accounts and analyze them against performance
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files
  • Ensure compliance with tax policies and handle tax payments and returns
  • Liaise with our external accountant on quarterly and year end accounts
  • Meet with clients to discuss confidential accounting issues
  • Reconcile bank statements
  • Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Conduct month-end and year-end closures
  • Prepare documents for audits
  • Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
  • Ensure all day-to-day financial transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner
  • Report to the directors and work to improve financial processes
  • Other relevant administrative duties (expenses, petty cash, liaising with payroll, invoicing, etc.)

As part of a small team, there will be some other areas of work to which you may be asked to contribute. Training will be given on the job as required.

Requirements and skills

  • Similar experience as a Company Accountant or relevant role in accounting
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel; very good with spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of Sage accounting system including multi currency accounts
  • Good math skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Confidentiality and integrity
  • Accounting qualification or relevant experience

This is a full-time, permanent position, 37.5 hrs pw with a probationary period of six months. This position will be based in our office in Bristol, with flexible working and hybrid working available.
